BEGINNERS:
Beginner (Gremmie) sessions start with an Ocean Safety tutorial and dry land instruction and demonstration of paddling, catching the wave as well as standing and turning. Student are then taken in the water one at a time to catch their first wave with the direct supervision of one of our expert instructors.

Subjects Covered:
Ocean Safety (Wave action, currents and other potential hazards).
Paddling / moving the board through the waves & currents.
Surfing etiquette.
Locating the lineup
Paddling out & duck diving or turning turtle.
Wave selection.
Catching the wave
Standing and foot placement.
Making the bottom turn (most fundamental turn in surfing).
Trimming / directing the board in the curl of the wave.


INTERMEDIATE: Intermediate surfers will be evaluated as to their individual skill level and goals assessed accordingly. The intermediate surfer will review our basic Ocean Safety Tutorial and a focus on reading the wave and how to gain speed to execute a strong bottom turn, basic off the tops and cut backs. Our Intermediate Surfers leave ready to practice what they have learned to take them to an advanced level.

Foot placement.
Maximizing speed to execute maneuvers.
Mastering the bottom turn (most fundamental turn in surfing).

ADVANCED: The Atlantic City Surfing Club & Surfing AC teaches and coaches some of the BEST surfers in the Garden State. You will find our surfers at the top of the NSSA and ESA ranking in various divisions. Our students understand that the best surfer in the water is the one having the most fun, yet at the same time they are driven by that desire to do that which their ability and the wave allows them to do. SURF. We focus on life lessons learned in surfing and “The Surfers Code”. We focus on the surfers “mind set” and evaluate their power maneuvers and flow of their maneuvers with one another. In addition we run timed heats and develop successful strategies for success.

Mastering the “flow”.
Bringing out the individual surfers “style”.
Mastering the “Off the Top” and Cut Back”.
Focus on maneuvers and the “flow” of linking the surfer’s repertoire together, and “finishing” their waves.
Contest strategies and work out regimes and training to continue their progress.

Camp Director: TJ Forkin:
Forkin has over 35 years of surfing and lifeguarding experience. A former two time NSSA National Team Member and East Coast Champion, Forkin has the expertise to have you surfing on your first day and bring your performance to the next level.

Forkin, an area teacher, has traveled the world surfing and is passing that knowledge and experience onto his students. He holds a BA. MA. And Juris Doctorate from Villanova University and has served as member Atlantic City Beach Patrol for eight years, and City Attorney for four years. After over a decade of practicing law Forkin has returned to his roots; teaching, and showing people how to enjoy the Ocean: Surfing.


Instructors:
All instructors are surfer / lifeguards with an average of 15 years experience. Pursuant to Surfing America Guidelines we have a 6 students to one instructor ratio.


Location:
The beautiful beaches of Atlantic City New Jersey with the Nations first boardwalk and the best casino’s restaurants and shopping in the country.


Equipment:
All students are provided with surfboards and wetsuits. Surf Kids and Surfing AC use longboards, both hard and soft tops to provide safety and maximum flotation and stability. This allows the student to maximize their surfing pleasure by catching more waves and enjoying a longer ride.
